Restaurant/places to eat in Hotel Martelli
I saw that there were mixed/negative reviews about this place, but I had the complete opposite experience! This place used to be the home of a Medici era nobleman and it has much character. A lot of vintage things have been preserved which adds to the charm of the place. Many have said that the hotel is "dated," but it's honestly so cool to feel like you're stepping back in time into the rich history of Florence. The bathrooms were newly refurbished too so it's like you get the best of both worlds! The front desk was so helpful and even gave us a map of the city and pointed out places to visit. The room was so comfortable and clean. The bathroom has really nice and hot water which is great for these winter months. The hotel is in a great location too. It's just a 5 min walk from the train station, and another 5 mins to the duomo.

The property is a fine building, old but seems to be well looked after. Breakfast was good, cereal, croissants and bread with some meat and cakes. For me breakfast is mainly about the coffee, and there was lots of coffee. Fresh fruit and yoghurt was also available, it was a good way to start the day. The breakfast employees were friendly and efficient. The hotel was quiet and the bed was lovely and comfortable. We had a small bath and a shower which was nice. There was a kettle and a fridge in the room so we were able to keep items cool. The air conditioning worked very well and was very quiet. The shutters on the windows kept the light out so no sleeping issues either. The reception team were friendly and chatty and made us feel welcome.

The location of the hotel is excellent, we were able to walk with our bags the few hundred metres to the hotel. The hotel was situated a couple of mins from the Duomo and within very easy reach of most of the other attractions TAXIS . . .One thing to note If you need a taxi in Florence to get to your hotel be prepared to queue for a long long time in the hot sun and pay for it with one of your kidneys or sell one of your children. The cost of a taxi seems to start at 30-40 euros and go up from there even for small journeys so being able to walk to our hotel was a huge bonus

The Building its-self is a bit of a maze but once you have found your room once it gets easier. The location is perfect for exploring the sights of Florence just a few minutes walk to the Duomo and many other sights such as the Uffizi are 5-10 minutes walk max. Martelli is also very close to the train staion. The breakfast was basic but perfectly good to help you get ready for the day. The room was large and comfortable with a big window and plenty of storage space. 24 hour concierge

We had the classic double room. I suppose the reviewer who complained about a tiny shower had one of the other rooms. Our bathroom was large and modern. The bed was comfortable, and the breakfast wonderful. I liked all the old looking decor, like the chandelier and brick arch in our room. The best thing was the location, so near the train and the duomo.
